The Circleville Wrestling Club participated in the 5th Annual Grade School Wrestling State Championships held over the weekend at the Convocation at Ohio University in Athens. The Club represented Circleville well as they brought back serious hardware. Nate Keaton led the way with his second placement at the State Tournament in three years. Keaton dominated the field as he tech falled Xavier Torres 17-1 and Luke Black 15-0 then in the quarter finals he pinned Jordan Ward in 2.45. Jashon Hubbard a previous state champion from Next Level Wrestling was the next opponent in the semi final match. Keaton was to much for Hubbard and won by Disqualification in the third period for multiple technical violations. In the Championship match Keaton wrestled a flawless match and major
decision Jordan Crace of Team Jordan 15-4 and captured the first State Championship for the Circleville Wrestling Club.
 
The Club was able to place two other wrestlers at this prestigious wrestling tournament. Team Captain Tyler Knul wrestled his way to a very impressive 5th place finish. “Tyler wrestled great, he has always had the talent but it was great to see him leave it all on the mat and wrestle with a little chip on his shoulder.” Coach Brad Keaton. Dietrich Boysel also wrestled his way to a 5th place finish. Boysel a second year wrestler for the club went 3-2 and is forever in the Grade School State Wrestling history books. The Circleville Wrestling Club is finishing up their 5th year of wrestling action.  The club competes in the Southeast Ohio Youth Wrestling League and recently finished in the third place spot for the second consecutive year.  The SEOYWL in one of the best leagues in all of Ohio and produces State caliber competition on a weekly basis.  The club is comprised of 1st through 6th graders that want to learn and excel in the sport of wrestling.  This years roster had over 35 kids that participated and we are expecting even more next year. 
The OURWAY State tournament was recently held at the Nationwide Arena in conjunction with the Arnold Classic.  More than 1200 wrestlers qualified for this event that saw Arnold Schwarzenegger make a speech during the event.  The tournament was loaded with the most talented wrestlers the state had to offer.  The Circleville Wrestling Club is proud to announce that 4 current club members and 3 former members were able to stand on the podium as state placers.  Defending State Champion Nate Keaton led the charge with his second consecutive State Championship performance as he defeated Logan Nay of Warren 16-4 Tech fall decision.  Placing 2nd for the Tigers was Captain Tyler Knul he was beaten by Kade Kowalski of Tri-Valley 4-0.  Third place finisher Logan Agin knocked off Kaden Dosch of Tri-Valley and Nick Keaton beat Keegan Mack of Wauseon to nail down the 5th spot.  Everts Middle School  wrestlers Nathan Kern 7th place, Trevor Bastion 6th place, and Corey Worthington 5th place all wrested very well and will be taking that momentum to the high school next year.  Circleville finished in second place as a team and beat nearly 100 teams to do so.  Springboro scored
107.5 to take home the team title narrowinly
beating the Tigers by 6.5 points. 
 
The Circleville Wrestling Club is already paying dividends at the high school level, this year Sophomore NIck Greenlee became the first club member to wrestle on the the Ohio High School State Tournament.  The Circleville Tiger High School Varsity wrestling team had 6 former club members in the starting line-up this season that help lead the Tigers to a 2nd place league finish.  Brad Keaton Club coach “It's exciting to know that the wrestling club is making an impact at the high school level.” “I'm sure everyone that has ever been affiliated with the program is happy to know that the work they put in has helped make an impact.”
